Clyde Butcher

Clyde Butcher is a renowned American landscape photographer, celebrated nationally and internationally for his exceptional black-and-white photography. For over fifty years, Butcher has captured the untouched beauty of landscapes, focusing primarily on the Everglades, while also exploring locations across the United States, Cuba, and Europe. Using large-format cameras ranging from 5”x7” to 12”x20”, Butcher’s hand-printed images on fiber-based paper reveal intricate details of the natural world.
His work has been exhibited in several prestigious museums in the U.S. and around the world. Butcher has received numerous honors, including the National Medal of Arts from President Biden in 2024, the Artist Hall of Fame Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the North American Nature Photography Association, and the Sierra Club’s Ansel Adams Conservation Award.
