Woodchopping showcasing our heritage sport of cutting and sawing wood with an axe and crosscut saw. Woodchopping was born in Tasmania 1870. It was a bet between 2 guys who could chop their log the fastest. This is How our forefathers cleared the land in first settlement.
Standing Block simulates felling a tree
Underhand simulates cutting the head of the tree from the trunk
Treefelling how trees with huge butts were felled getting up off the ground
Sawing simulates sawing the trees into manageable sections for the timber workers
All disciplines are competed in the Woodchop arena in competition style. Fastest wins
Handicap events are to cater for all everyone gets the chance to compete against each other and win.
Championship events determine the best axeman/women on the day with all competitors starting from the scratch mark 3.
