The D-Word
Founded in 1999, The D-Word is the leading online community for documentary professionals worldwide, with over 23,000 members from 158 countries. If you work in the documentary field you can apply for free access to our wide range of discussions about the art, craft, business and social impact of documentary film. To apply, go to: www.d-word.com (be sure to include a brief bio and/or link to your IMDB or website).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, we've held weekly F2F's on Zoom with our members, alternating between networking sessions and "Focused F2F's" with guest experts conversing on a variety of documentary topics. In December of 2020, we started recording the moderated portions of the Focused F2F's with the permission of our guests. Because of all the gems of tips, advice and hard-won, firsthand knowledge being shared, we call it D-Words of Wisdom. We hope these videos will be useful to all documentary filmmakers and fans, whether D-Word members or not.
