VisitAble

VisitAble is a new startup working to increase access, accommodation, and awareness so that those with ambulatory issues can better enjoy being involved and contributing individuals in their communities. Exceptions allowed by the ADA regarding what is “reasonable”, as well as
“preservation of historical features”, cause many locations to be inaccessible to people with
ambulatory issues. ADA compliance does not mean an establishment is mobility-friendly, and
there’s no consistent and efficient way to check if a location is actually accessible. VisitAble is creating an interactive database, similar to a Yelp for accessibility, as well as a certification process to inspire change and educate business owners on how to improve the experience of their customers with mobility issues.
