You can start with an old bicycle you have in your garage . Expect to pay $300 + for a 48+V 20+ah battery to have close to one Kwh battery pack on a 500+ Watt motor. Various motor types are out on the open market. For around $1000 you could buy a strong battery and powerful motor that may allow you to pedal up to 40MPH. Pedal assist is best in my opinion because you have to move and that is what's fun about bicycling! Ride On!!!...
