BIOGRAPHY
Nativ Afrik is a virtuoso collection of Ghanaian musicians led by the multi-talented drummer and composer Emmanuel Amponsah.
The band started its mainstream career with the release of its debut EP titled “DON'T TEAR FISH” in 2017. The following year, the EP won them the first prize for the YAMAHA E Band Competition, becoming the first Ghanaian band to win the world music competition and invited them to tour Japan.That award gave the band the opportunity to represent Ghana in Benin in 2020, winning the Modern Music of Traditional Inspiration category–the grand prize for the Stars de l'intégration Culturelle Africaine Festival
Their music takes you on a journey through African percussive and rhythmic elements, infusing diverse styles of kologo music, Highlife, Afrobeat, Jazz, Funk, World Music, and Reggae into a fresh, hybrid style.
In 2023 the band began a collaboration with international musicians based in Germany, who will join them on various international festivals.
