Vestlandsfanden

Vestlandsfanden is a legendary Norwegian folk rock and country rock band, formed in Haugesund in 1979. With roots in Celtic and Nordic folk music, the band was among the first to electrify traditional folk music in Norway. The band has released 16 full-size albums and a number of singles, played over 3,000 concerts and served as a musical home for more than 70 musicians over the years. Vestlandsfanden is still led by founder, songwriter, frontman and vocalist Reidar Brendeland. Musically, the band shares a certain kinship – but without direct comparison – with artists such as The Band, Fairport Convention, Bob Dylan, Richard Thompson, Danish icon Kim Larsen and more recent artists such as Mumford & Sons. Vestlandsfanden is known for its energetic live shows and powerful, socially conscious lyrics – rich in humor, irony and satire. Always performed with a warm heart - and deep compassion for society's underdogs.
