Ismailism is a branch of Shia Islam getting name from their acceptance of Imam Ismail ibn Jafar as the appointed spiritual successor (imam) to Jafar al-Sadiq. As a Heridatery direct lineal descendant of the Holy Prophet, Aga Khan V, is the current Imam-uz-Zaman of Shia Imami Nizari Ismailis and is accepted as a Hujja, thus has the authority after Holy Prophet to interpret the Quran in relation to the present time. The divine appointment of the Imam, as per Shia belief, was passed down from the Prophet to Ali and His sons al-Hasan and al-Husayn, who passed the divine knowledge onto their son & so on. Therefore, it is only those who are members of the Prophet's family line that possess the divine knowledge from God and therefore are hujja.
