I am a gastroenterologist, scientist, geek, retired trumpeter and active ultra-trail runner. Investigating the causes and consequences of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. How do genetic, environmental and microbial factors affect lead to the development of Crohn's disease? How do these factors affect disease flare in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis? We did the PREdiCCt study to find out. Recruiting people with IBD in clinical remission across the UK, PREdiCCt is figuring out how diet, lifestyle, the microbes in our guts and many other factors affect disease flare. We may then be able to answer the very simple questions, asked so ofter in our clinics, such as "doctor, what should I eat?".
