The Jeannette Rankin Women’s Scholarship Fund empowers women through education by honoring Jeannette Rankin, the first woman to be elected to the United States Congress in 1916. As a proponent of women's rights she devoted her life to help women and children stand up for social justice. When she died she bequeathed part of her estate to create the Jeannette Rankin Foundation, a nonprofit scholarship fund.

The first scholarship was awarded in 1978, since then over $3 million in scholarships have provided financial aid to more than 1,300 women across the U.S. to help them achieve their dreams of a better life. The foundation awards scholarships to low-income women of 35 or older to go back to school to earn a bachelors or technical degree. Scholarships help pay for college tuition, childcare, rent, transportation etc.

JRF empowers women across the nation to better themselves and our world. We continue to advocate for social justice and carry on the legacy of Jeannette Rankin.
