Before we start however, we take the opportunity to invite you into "our world". A world of extremes, a part of our planet that leaves visitors breathless, amazed, pleased, sometimes even frightened, as this is the land of extremes. There is nothing mild or gentle about this place.

This is where snow covered mountains reach for the sky at thousands of feet, diving into deep crystal clear fjords and the midnight sun brings a short, intense summer. But this is also a part of the world where the Northern Light dances silently across the winter sky and the cold winter temperature is a natural part of everyday life. For centuries people here have lived with this and learned to master the sometimes brutal climate.
