St. George Byzantine Choir
The traditional music of the Orthodox Church, which is commonly referred to today as Byzantine music, has been used in the Orthodox Church for more than a thousand years. It is strictly vocal and monophonic in nature, and is sometimes referred to as "the garment which clothes the Liturgical texts". While Byzantine chant is aesthetically beautiful to the ear, its primary goal is to uplift worshipers in prayer and communion with God.
The St. George Byzantine Choir is a mixed-voice choir of dedicated individuals from St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, who desire to praise God with their whole heart using the Ecclesiastic music of the Orthodox Church.
