Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611
With the souls of artisans and the hands of craftsmen, the men of the Norfolk & Western Railway in Roanoke, Virignia, designed, built and maintained the Class J 611 -- the most powerful steam passenger locomotive in the world.
Often called the "Queen of Steam," the Class J 611 is Roanoke born, Roanoke bred and Roanoke proud. She is the Spirit of Roanoke, and she is thundering across the Blue Ridge once again.
