Paper Idol

From its humble beginnings at Wesleyan University as a dorm-room folk experiment by former neuroscience student Matan KG, Paper Idol has evolved into a distinctive voice in the lo-fi acoustic scene. Trading dance beats for fingerpicked guitars and field recordings, the project found early traction with introspective tracks like "Feel Real Pretty," which resonated with listeners on LA's KCRW. With two EPs and an album exploring themes of solitude and self-discovery, Paper Idol has toured intimate venues along the West Coast and shared the stage at grassroots festivals like Timber!, Treefort, and Millpond. Known for blending bedroom folk with analog textures and subtle electronic flourishes, the project has drawn praise from outlets such as NPR Music, The Wild Honey Pie, and Atwood Magazine.
