THE HISTORY OF "HOLY SUYAMBU DURGAI DEVI" TEMPLE

Two decades back, when farming was being done near the "PACHAIMALAI" hill, the place were Goddess 'AMBAL' is showering blessings now, a farmer was plowing the fields.The plow was struck and the bulls were not being able to move further. When that place was dug to see what was stopping the bulls, a grinding stone broken on one side was found. Blood was seeping from the broken side, and the farmer was shocked. All the farmers working next to him gathered. The villagers were awestuck. That′s when a 'SADHU' seeing all this happen was over whelmed with happiness and with folded hands declared that 'DURGA DEVI' has appeared as 'SUYAMBU'. From that day onwards without giving any physical structure to the Goddess people started worshipping. As time passed by, with "head, neck, body, face, hands and legs" she got a physical form and is still showering her blessings to everyone.
