David Roberts Maritime

As a Birkenhead boy and ex Cammell Laird apprentice I guess I was somehow destined to write and make films about about maritime affairs in general and Merseyside maritime history in particular.

The film Cammell Laird - Old Ships and Hardships was a natural follow on from my previous two books * about the world famous Merseyside shipyard. Made in 1994 using some rare and previously unseen footage, but mostly primary sources, it covers the founding of the yard until its eventual demise in 1993.

The ordinary men who worked at Lairds get their say too, about their working lives in the yard and their thoughts about it's legacy and future. It took about a year to make and in my view does what it says on the tin. I hope that you will enjoy it.
