Barbara Mayer: pianist, improviser, composer, musicologist

Artistic emphases: piano, composition, improvisation, performance of works of seldom-performed composers (particularly from those dating from 19th century onwards), interdisciplinary projects

Barbara Mayer studied composition and piano at the prestigious Mozarteum Salzburg and Anton-Bruckner-Universität Linz with renowned Professors such as Adriana Hölszky, Cordelia Höfer and Margit Haider-Dechant. After completing her Master studies with the highest honours, she has received her PhD in Musicology with an outstanding final grade.
Barbara Mayer has since continued her artistic development through numerous masterclasses, taught by highly acclaimed artists such as Anatol Ugorsky, Alexander Jenner, Filippo Faes and Roger Muraro.
She has received excellent awards to date (a.o. 1st prize-winner of international piano- and composition competitions, special distinctions for her improvisations).
