Soumaya Baalbaki

Soumaya Baalbaki is one of the authentic singers that have not gone commercial in the music circuit. She focuses instead on genuine “Tarab” (the art of transcendence in Middle Eastern singing) whereby the listener reaches a state of euphoria and emotional climax.

Soumaya is a regular participant in Oriental Music festivals. She participated in the Tyre International Music Festival in 2008 and 2005, Baalbek international festival in 2022. She toured Japan in 2002 (as part of the Unesco cultural dialogue program). She was the winner of the Golden Microphone Award in Carthage in 1994, (lyrics by late poet Anwar Salman and music by late composer Ihsan Al Munzer). She was in the main musical act at the opening of the Asian Games 2001, Performed at the Opera of Cairo in 2000.

Soumaya’s performance and wide range of her singing abilities brought her to the orchestral music arena with her latest release “ Ayanak Watani” in collaboration with Lebanese Swiss composer Nashaat Salman
