SD CELAR British Museum
We are Latin America and the Caribbean at the British Museum. The Santo Domingo Centre of Excellence for Latin American Research (SDCELAR) and its affiliates hope to challenge the ways in which Latin America is commonly represented and studied in museums by:
- Experimenting with the ways that museum research is conducted and disturbing traditional representations of Latin America.
- Supporting cultural heritage initiatives that are developed in Latin America and aiming to create a network of communities that are interested in the heritage and material culture of the region.
- Giving Latin American collections greater visibility and seeking to broaden the audiences who typically engage with Latin American contemporary and archaeological material.
