Necas Seminar on Continuum Mechanics
The Nečas Seminar on Continuum Mechanics is a weekly research seminar dedicated to advanced topics in mathematical continuum mechanics, calculus of variations, and partial differential equations. It provides a platform for researchers to present recent results, discuss ongoing work, and explore theoretical and applied aspects of the mechanics of solids and fluids. Emphasis is placed on rigorous mathematical approaches, including nonlinear elasticity, plasticity, material microstructure, and modern analytical techniques relevant to the modeling of complex materials.
The seminar brings together mathematicians, engineers, and physicists interested in the interplay between mechanics and analysis, continuing the tradition inspired by the influential work of Jindřich Nečas. It was established in 1966.
