Park Škocjanske jame, Slovenija

Škocjan Caves Park Public Service Agency, Slovenia was registred January 27th of 1997 after the formal act of the establishment of the Škocjan Caves Regional Park was passed November 27th of 1996. The Agency was established for the management of the Škocjan Caves Regional Park with the view to conserve and research outstanding geomorphological, geological and hydrological sites, rare and endangered plant and animal species, paleontological and archeological sites, ethnological and architectural characteristics and cultural landscape, and to provide opportunities for adequate development. Due to their particular natural, cultural, historical and aesthetical value, individual parts of immovable natural and cultural heritage in the Park are specially protected by the law. At the same time the Agency manages the Škocjan Caves as World Heritage Site (1986) and Ramsar site (1999). From 2004 the Agency manages the Karst Biosphere Reserve as well (MAB).
