Renovating Rock Cottage
Follow our family project to renovate Rock Cottage - A 250 year old cottage in the heart of Northern Ireland with a long history.
A learning experience for us all on how to manage damp in these old vernacular buildings. Figuring out how to put back all the missing stone from the walls. Gently restoring what needs mended and leaving what is already sound. Acquiring old skills such as lime plastering and new technologies such as green energy.
This little house will once again become a warm home for our daughter when she finishes her study and maybe a holiday rental until she needs it.
We want to use traditional building materials and blend with modern tech to create a home that is comfortable and affordable to live in. All while sharing the fun with the children and animals!!
