Daby Toure Globale
Biography of Daby Touré: A Global Musical Nomad
Daby Touré, a Mauritanian-Senegalese singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, blends African folk, blues, jazz, pop, reggae, funk, and soul into a unique global sound. Born in Mauritania and raised in Senegal, he now resides in Montreal. Influenced by his father, Hamidou Touré of Toure Kunda, and global icons like Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley, Daby’s music fuses African traditions with international styles.
Daby’s career took off with the duo Touré-Touré and his 2004 solo album Diam, released by Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records. He has since collaborated with artists like Peter Gabriel and Souad Massi, and albums like Stereo Spirit (2007) and Amonafi (2015) showcase his versatile guitar and poetic lyrics.
A new album is set for release next fall, with an exclusive preview available in his latest video. A world tour is also in the works.
