Kiwi Cam at Russell Nature Walks
Kiwi birds are unique to New Zealand. They are also elusive and nocturnal so they are very difficult to see. On this channel, Russell Nature Walks brings you short videos of wild kiwi birds in their natural habitat. We do lots of conservation work to protect the forest and wetland habitats of kiwis and the other rare birds that live here, including North Island Weka, Pateke (Brown Teal) and Fernbird, so we will also post videos of these birds from time-to-time.
Here at "Russell Nature Walks" we offer short, interesting guided walks to people who want to see and learn about New Zealand ecology. Our "Forest Ecology Walk" enables you to see & hear birds, find out about native plants and their uses, hunt for Weta (the gentle giants of the insect world) and learn how the creatures of the forest need each other to survive and how we can assist their conservation. On our "Night Walk" you have the chance to see kiwi!!
