Pastoralist Landscapes
'Pastoralist Landscapes' is a research that documents how mountain communities especially shepherds create cultural landscapes using traditional ecological knowledge. This channel focuses on the traditional pasture managements of shepherds and their flocks on the pastureland in Italy and Turkey, and how they effect the mountain biodiversity and ecosystem. This multidisciplinary study combines ecology, anthropology, archaeology, architecture and ethnobotany under one roof. The biggest motivation of this research is to contribute to the documentation and protection of the disappearing intangible cultural heritage of transhumance.
