ARTIST'S STATEMENT: I value directness and sincerity. Because much of the fiber work we do relies on premeditation, surface work appeals to me because we can bring the work nearer its potential when the impulse is still fresh. I’ve always seen the work in flashes and then pieced it together. The work continues to be about connection. When I was younger I wanted the approval of others to pursue my own vision. These days I know it doesn't have to be that way. I think the key is in our breath and our inner dialogue as we create.
