The Mobility Independence Foundation
Introducing a new business model for mobility equipment - one that is community-based, open-source, and inclusive of mutual aid programs. Our aim is to provide individualized solutions that are easily maintained and repaired. With a team of experts in disability issues, mechanical engineering, advanced welding techniques, design, and software, we are developing a modernized, fully customizable, and modular power wheelchair design that will meet the needs of people in urban, suburban, and rural lifestyles alike.
By embracing open-source designs and mutual aid programs, we pave the way for quality and accessible mobility equipment that is built with the individual user in mind. Our first project is currently underway, with a team of remote experts who are testing and disseminating concepts and technologies to produce the power wheelchair designs. We are committed to providing ever-ready information resources on building, maintaining, and repairing the equipment.
