Friends of DANA

Hi, hello, how are you? Welcome to the channel that thinks the sun shines out of DANA's back catalogue. She was born Rosemary Brown in Frederica Street, Islington, London on 30 August 1951, to Robert & Sheila Brown from Derry in Northern Ireland.

The family returned to Derry in 1956 and from 1963-1970 she attended Thornhill College. Hobbies included ballet dancing and music. In 1967 she joined Rex Records (Decca) as "Dana". Aged 18 the student won Ireland's National Song Contest. Three weeks later she won the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest with All Kinds of Everything. The single went to number one in the charts selling two million copies. So began a successful music career.

In 1978 she married Damien Scallon, a hotelier from Newry. They have four children. The 1990s were spent in Alabama working for the Eternal Word Television Network. From 1999 until 2004 Dana Rosemary Scallon was an MEP for Connacht-Ulster. She formed DS Music Productions in 2006. Home is Claregalway, Ireland.
