John Van De Steen Male Choir

The John Van de Steen Male Choir is composed mostly of former members of the Manila Cathedral Boys Choir. From a serendipitous meeting in August 2009, a shared nostalgia for sacred Latin hymns brought them together with former choir members of the Ave Maria Male Choir, Himig ng Lumang Makati, Tiples de Sto. Domingo and the First Degree, rekindling a love for music that has kept them together since.

Their inspiration is Fr. John Van De Steen, CICM, an exponent of liturgical and sacred music, who carried out his ministry in the Philippines from 1946 till his death in 1987.

The choir's repertoire now includes other choral arrangements with universal appeal, in English and Filipino. They have performed in concerts around Metro Manila and several provinces, Hongkong and Macau, and had a goodwill tour in Rome and Venice in 2019. They do not aspire to awards nor commercial success, but only to share their talent and sing with the depth of feeling that mature men are capable of.
