BTG (BOILER TURBINE GENERATOR)
Coal remains a major energy source, but the country is also looking into ways to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels through waste heat recovery and carbon capture and storage. Throughout Cambodia, many coal-fired power plants are being built or planned. Circulating fluidized bed boilers are the most common type of boiler used in these plants (CFBC). These boilers generate fluidized steam by injecting air into a bed of solid particles containing suspended pulverized coal or other fuel. The heated particles are then converted into gases by the injected air. The hot gases are then mixed with water from the cooling tower to spin a turbine and generate electricity. Some newer plants also employ a combined cycle system, which uses waste heat from the gas turbine to generate extra steam for the boiler. The hot gases are then mixed with water from the cooling tower to spin a turbine and generate electricity.
