Robert the Bruce - Genius of Bannockburn
My page is dedicated to the life and times of Robert the Bruce. My love for history and the Scottish Wars of Independence was sparked by a school trip to Bannockburn Heritage Centre when I was 10 years old!
I spent years researching the Battle of Bannockburn, fought near Stirling Castle, June 1314. Debates exist about the battle location, number of Scots compared to English forces, and myths through storytelling many years after the battle.
Could an army of 6,000 Scots defeat a superior English army over 20,000?
How did a force of 500 Scots cavalry disperse several thousand lethal war bowmen ‘every arrow is death’ from ½ mile away?
I walk in the footsteps of Robert Bruce, William Wallace, Black Douglas, Edward I, and the Kings, soldiers, martyrs, and freedom fighters who shaped Scotland's history by visiting castles, battlefields, and landmarks defining the medieval period.
Information given is my opinion based on my own interest and extensive research.
This is my passion!
