Penelope Iris Arthur I

Penelope Arthur is a sophomore Presidential Scholar at George Washington University, double-majoring in Dance and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Originally from Basking Ridge, New Jersey, she began dancing at the Somerset Hills YMCA and later trained competitively at Maximum Performance Dance in ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, and hip hop. In high school, Penelope was deeply involved in the arts—as secretary of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, captain of the dance team, and a dance assistant for the drama department. A recipient of the NJ Governor's Award for Excellence in Dance Arts Education, she is passionate about using dance for education, empowerment, and self-expression. Penelope is pursuing a professional path in the dance industry, through both choreography and performance.
