Nazia Hassan is the Pioneer of Pop Music in the Subcontinent. Imagine a 15 year old girl singing and dancing in Zia-ul-Haq's Mullah ruled Pakistan and becoming famous not only in her own country but South Asia, Indonesia, Africa and South America. She sold over 60 million records worldwide.
Nazia was a beauty with brains. A lawyer by profession, she worked in the UN Security Council. She was involved in active social work and helped raise money for women and children. She also worked to raise awareness against drug menace. Nazia was diagnosed with lung cancer and died at the young age of 35 in 2000.
Her arranged marriage failed miserably and she got divorced 10 days before her death. She left behind a 3 year old son.
