Remind Me - Original Song by Peter Morgan

When I first experienced clinical depression, it was also accompanied by short-term memory loss.The way I experience depression is a complete void of all emotion. Memories form better when associated with strong emotions, so perhaps part of the reason I kept forgetting simple things was the fact that I felt nothing towards it. I wrote this song thinking about how I overloaded myself again this semester similar to the first time I experienced depression (5 or 6 years ago) and how I am seeing some repetition. I started forgetting assignments or that I already did them. Forgetting painful things can be nice, but I don't want to forget the people I love. Forgetting who I am and the people I love is extraordinarily frightening. This song is almost a plea or a prayer to remember who I am, my values, and what matters most to me.

Also this was one of the first songs I had an idea for since completing my album. I actually thought of the chorus in mid July 2018, which was 3 months before I released my album "Undefined." I FORGOT about the song and didn't finish it until last week. Go figure. I finished writing drafts of 22 other songs before finishing this draft of "Remind Me."
