Adam Baldwin is an American actor best known for his role as Jayne Cobb in the Whedonverse series’, Firefly and Serenity.
Baldwin grew up in Illinois and it was while attending his final year in high school that he made his big break into film, starring as ‘Linderman’ in the movie My Bodyguard.
He went on to appear in several more films before landing the role of the war-loving soldier, ‘Animal Mother’, in the Kubrick classic, Full Metal Jacket. Baldwin’s other film credits since then include Predator 2, The Patriot, How to Make an American Quilt and Independence Day.
In television, he stared as ‘Col. Jack Riles’ in the television series The Cape, and had recurring roles in The Visitor, Men in Black and The X-Files, and Angel, in addition to providing his voice to animated television shows and video games such as, Jackie Chan Adventures and Transformers Prime, and Halo 3, Injustice: Gods Among Us and Batman: Arkham Origins – Blackgate.
However Baldwin is probably best known for his role as Jayne Cobb in the short-lived, but beloved sci-fi series, Firefly, and would go on to reprise the role 2 years later in its movie spin-off, Serenity.
In recent years Baldwin has seen great success, co-starring in the NBC television show Chuck as NSA agent, ‘John Casey’. He currently stars as Mike Slattery in the post-apocolyptic drama, The Last Ship.
