33 years after it was parked for the final time, my late grandfather's Ford 4000 tractor was pulled out of its grave at my uncle's farm, which unfortunately has been sold for development, and relocated to its temporary home - the "staging lane" next to my parents' house where it will sit for just a couple more years, in line for restoration. I rounded up a good 38" power-adjust rim, and a pair of 15" John Deere M front wheels and tires - the bare minimum needed to get it rolling on all 4 wheels once again.
With a little persuasion from penetrating oil and oxy-acetylene, we got the "new" used power-adjust rim mounted up and got the tractor rolling. A few days later, we chained up the Ford 445D and towed the 4000 off my uncle's farm, 2.5 miles down the road, through the neighborhood where my parents live, and shoved it in the lane with my fleet of farm implements also awaiting restoration. I'm planning to have this one professionally restored by a local Mennonite Ford tractor repair shop near me in Pennsylvania, rather than attempt the restoration myself. It may be a few more years yet as I am still saving up the funds to have this done, but it will be worth it to see that thing in shiny new Ford blue paint once again.
