Coon Dance Road Railroad Crossing Times Out, Gates, TN

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3.5 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, 1 Safetran 12x24 inch light with a GE Uniform Look LED, a Safetran Hybrid bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

After catching Memphis's siren test, I drove back up to the town of Gates to try and get a couple more crossings on the Fulton Sub. Thankfully, just after I got here, I wound-up hearing a southbound passing the Dyersburg DD, so I went ahead and got set-up. Unfortunately, due to the fact they were meeting a northbound at the next siding south, they wound-up taking forever to get here and had to stop before this crossing and wait due to being too long for the passing siding. Thankfully, they did pull up close enough to cause the crossing to time-out.

This crossing is another great one, featuring another mostly-original mid-90s CN install at it. It appears that, sometime between 2008 and 2012, CN upgraded this crossing to LED. The crossing then remained largely unchanged until sometime after 2023, when CN replaced one of the LEDs in one of the side lights here with the current GE Uniform Look LED. Thankfully, since then, absolutely nothing too major has changed to this crossing! The signals even still retain their original Safetran Hybrid bell, which is great to see. Hopefully this crossing continues to remain unchanged for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to record this crossing when I did.
