After a couple of pleasurable months riding my new-to-me second-hand 2019 Royal Enfield Classic 500 efi, it developed a very annoying problem.
Although it started well, idled nicely, would accelerate without problem, and cruise at open-road speeds without issue, in the mid-throttle range - say round town or on windy country roads, the engine would jerk, hiccup, and die. It was as though someone had suddenly twisted the throttle closed. If I opened the throttle further it picked up again, only to die again a short while later. And so on, and so on.
In this 12-minute video I talk about the steps I took to attempt to find the cause, while trying to avoid taking it to a dealership. I don't trust dealers, and sure enough, when I finally gave up and took it in I was told it would cost at least NZ$850 to fix.
Watch the video and learn how I got that down to under $100.
