Welcome to a video that’s a little bit different to the usual episode,
Going back to the last weekend in November 2024 it was cold and we’d had a lot of rain, this got me thinking of what I wanted to plan to do over the winter for my carp fishing,
That Sunday fish with jay called me up to say he’d just bought a winter ticket at Hilton valley and asked if I wanted to come for a recky,
I’d been to Hilton before but only once back in winter of 2023 and blanked so this was definitely on the cards to go back and beat the blank, this video will come out eventually.. haha
Me and Jay arranged a 48hr trip the first week of December, 24hours in and I was hooked, the talk of the unknown and a possible high 30lber possibly a 40 and with there being only 30 fish to go at it seemed a good challenge and it was as Although I blanked again, jay had an absolute lovely fish from Shals pond and it just felt right,
this is where I was going to spend my winter, trying to catch some unknown scaly bangers, let’s go on a journey!
This is a campaign, my winter campaign

So I chose hilton Valley for the fish, for the unknown and to make it just that little bit of an easier shall I say? Winter,
They supply mats slings and nets so less to haul around and no wet stuff in the car over the winter, it was perfect,
The swims are all gravel and it’s perfect for a wet and miserable winter,

After this trip I bought my ticket but unfortunately couldn’t get back for a few weeks,
We decided to come for a last minute session on the 21st December for 48hours, a little Christmas trip and maybe a Christmas carp!
We arrived 8pm on a dark Tuesday evening, got set up rods out and well, I’ll just let you watch what happened, this trip was the start of something special, or was it?
We cracked the lakes code and we knew the big one wasn’t far away,

Unfortunately after this trip, things went a bit upside down in my personal life and to top it off, the car needed some work doing to it,
It was almost 4 weeks before we returned, for another trip on shals pond,

The car wasn’t fixed but with a month of the ticket left, we had to get some time on the bank!

With that trip on shals done on the 29th jan, we felt a change was on the cards, with jays dad coming a couple days later and after not seeing anything on shals and it being only 5swims we decided to fish caney, the home of the big ones? Or maybe not so big,

That first trip on caney just give me and jay the bug to catch one, we had to come back and quick as there was only 3 weeks of the ticket left,

With the car on its last legs with no fuel injector, I decided it was worth the risk the 2hour drive to pick up jay and get on the bank to satisfy my fishing urge, we nearly didn’t make it, in the pouring rain, 5 miles from Hilton the car wouldn’t go above 30mph, jay said he’d get out and barrow but I told him we are making It! 3.5hours after setting off we had arrived and my god did it feel good for a bite! This trip was one to remember, my winter campaign nearly coming to a close,

Right the car has been left at the mechanics,
Superstar dad picked me and my fishing gear up,
I was so annoyed! The car is gone and I’ve got another trip in 2 days time,
With some convincing and fuel money, my dad agreed to take me and pick me up from Hilton as this trip was just me for 72hr as jay was on the linear Parker baits social, mr b2 himself! He only went and won it. Go check his video and subscribe if you haven’t already, he’s the next Tom maker haha.
With that trip being slow I managed to get to know another guy with a winter ticket called Ian which was nice. We had some good food and a good laugh,

Right and this is it, the last week of the ticket, I’ve got the last 3 days booked on and my car isint going to be repaired on time, what am I going to do!?

After some thought and speaking to jay, we decided the last trip couldn’t be missed an we hired a van to get there, the buzz this place gives you, it’s just a crazy feeling and when your there it feels special.

Well that’s end of the winter Campaign, and what a great winter it was, we had 12 fish between us and fish from both lakes, this winter campaign has been ticked off the list,
