Paul Klee – Jean-Michel Basquiat. Part I: A Lecture by Irina Kulik
The Lecture contains a translation into Russian Sign language and audio descriptions.
Paul Klee was a German painter of the early 20th century affiliated to the famous Blaue Reiter group, along with his close friend Wassily Kandinsky. He taught at the German Bauhaus school of art, design and architecture.
Jean-Michel Basquiat was a musician, poet, and artist, who had become an idol of the 1970–80s generation before he died at the age of 27. He originally emerged as a graffiti artist in SoHo, New York City, then turned to painting, generating a sensation among art dealers. Critics often called Basquiat the last artist of the 20th century and compared his use of pure colors to Matisse and Picasso, as well as Klee and other German Expressionists.
Irina Kulik, PhD (b. 1970) is an art critic, culture expert, lecturer at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), and author of numerous publications on contemporary art, cinema, and music.
