Waterloo Road at Blackpool South Shore

In this film we're going to take a walk along the most westerly part of Waterloo Road at Blackpool South Shore. Join us from shore to (Aldi) supermarket! Filmed on a frosty 8 February 2021.

Waterloo Road is a much longer road than you might think. Along with the 'seaside' part of it near Notarianni's, it continues a long way inland, all the way to Oxford Square and its junction with Preston New Road. That's where the Sofa shop was converted into a Greggs! We're just walking to South Shore railway station and the junction at Aldi. See where Waterloo Road crosses Yeadon Way against the large town centre car park.

As we take a walk along Waterloo Road on a cold February morning we'll find out about the past history of this well known road, why it was originally laid out, and what its original name was.

This area of Blackpool South Shore is one of the very old parts of the town, dating back to the mid 1700's. We'll also have a look at some of the old buildings on Waterloo Road too.
