Sustainable Living & Inclusive Future

Inclusive communities - how real are they? What are they? And what do they look like today ... and could look like tomorrow? What can you do to make communities inclusive? What are we afraid of?

In this episode, we go on a brief tour through history and the evolution of inclusive communities in the US. With an understanding that inclusive communities are a broader subject and go much deeper than race, ethnicity, etc. -- in this discussion we centered on some key aspects that are particular to US history and the evolution of communities towards coming together to where we are today. How can we move towards making inclusive communities the norm going forward? Where's the biggest growth potential? How inclusive is your own community that you live in and participate in, day in and day out? What conversations need to happen beyond political correctness and get to the heart of the matter so that inclusion can happen on a heart-to-heart level, not just by law or intellect?

We asked some candid questions and talked with the President of NFBPA - National Forum of Black Public Administrators, Anthony Snipes; the Executive Director of NFBPA Marcia Connor and the Director of Diversity Initiatives, Dr. Veleka Gatling to get their perspective from a public administrative point of view, personal view and to what extent education plays a role for all citizens.

Our guests talked about leadership, evolution, and how everyone can fit in. At the end of the day, inclusive communities are about the participation of all citizens. -- It is at the heart of a sustainable planet, sustainable life, a sustainable society, and democracy on a mundane, day-to-day level.
