천안함은 대잠전, 대함전, 대공전 등

◦천안함은 길이 122미터, 폭 14미터, 높이 35미터, 2,800톤급이며, 최고속력 30노트(시속 55km)에 해상작전헬기 1대를 탑재할 수 있다. 또한, 5인치 함포, 함대함유도탄, 한국형수직발사체계(KVLS)로 발사하는 전술함대지유도탄·장거리 대잠어뢰·유도탄방어유도탄 등의 무장능력을 갖추고 있다.

◦천안함은 과거 천안함(PCC)에 비해 대잠능력이 크게 강화했다. 선체고정음탐기(HMS)와 예인선배열음탐기(TASS)를 탑재해 적 잠수함 탐지능력을 향상시켰다.

◦특히, 장거리 대잠어뢰인 홍상어와 전술함대지유도탄을 탑재하여 생존성이 보장된 가운데 원거리에서도 적 잠수함을 공격하는 것은 물론 적 잠수함을 지휘하는 육상시설도 함정에서 직접 타격할 수 있다.

◦또한, 천안함 추진체계는 가스터빈과 추진전동기를 사용하는 하이브리드 추진체계를 탑재해 수중방사소음을 줄임으로써 대잠성능을 크게 향상시켰다.

In addition, 5-inch naval guns, ship-type guided missiles, tactical surface-to-ground guided missiles equipped with the Korean Vertical Launch System (KVLS), long-range anti-submarine torpedoes, and guided missile defense missiles.

◦The anti-submarine capability of the Cheonan has been greatly strengthened compared to the former Cheonan (PCC). It is equipped with a hull sonar (HMS) and a tug array sonar (TASS), improving its ability to detect enemy submarines.

◦In particular, survivability is guaranteed as it is equipped with long-range anti-submarine torpedoes, Hongshark, and tactical anti-ship missiles, and it can not only attack enemy submarines from a distance, but also attack land. A facility that commands enemy submarines directly from a ship.

◦In addition, the Cheonan's propulsion system is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system using a gas turbine and a propulsion motor, significantly improving anti-submarine performance by reducing underwater radiation noise.
