Motorcycle Emptiness" is a song by Welsh alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers. It was released on 1 June 1992 through Columbia Records. It was the fifth single to be released from their debut album, Generation Terrorists (1992). The song reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart on 13 June 1992.
Manic Street Preachers (often referred to as The Manics) is a Welsh alternative rock band, formed in 1986. By the late 90s, the band was known as one of the most important Britpop groups in Britain. They gained fame as a quartet, but were forced to continue as a trio in 1995 after the disappearance of band member Richey James Edwards. The band gained a notorious reputation in the early 90s for their combination of provocative androgynous glam punk and left-wing intellectual lyrics about "culture, alienation, boredom and despair", which earned the group a cult status. After Edwards' disappearance, they switched to a calmer image and broader musical style, with which they still broke through in the British mainstream.
