The 2016 Biotech 201 series, presented by Dr. Neil Lamb, highlighted genomic advances in the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of cancer. At it’s heart, cancer is a genomic disease and the American Cancer Society estimates the lifetime risk for developing cancer is approximately 1 in 2 for men and 1 in 3 for women. This four week series, examined current research findings related to how cancer occurs, explored known environmental and genetic risk factors and discussed how genomic information is shaping precision medicine in the detection and treatment of cancer.
