Earlier this week, the EPA announced plans to delay its controversial rules for certain boilers and incinerators. The decision to delay the effective date for the new rules came after significant congressional and stakeholder opposition to the proposal, which is projected to impact nearly 200,000 businesses, universities, hospitals, and churches, threaten thousands of jobs, and cost billions of dollars. By delaying the rule, EPA will be able to reconsider its proposal and gather additional public input.
Members of the Energy and Commerce Committee have been heavily engaged on this issue, urging the administration to rework the rules to develop more achievable standards.
