Our sailboat needs some love. After sailing in high winds in the acceleration zone and having gotten our butts kicked, some repairs are needed. And while we are at it, we are finishing the last of the boatwork jobs that we still need to do before we can head out and sail across oceans.
So we spend a few weeks in port and at anchor, powerdrill and powersaw in hand, punching out boatjob after boatjob. We repair the steering, fair and paint the damaged hull, install more solar panels, build cabinets, build cabins and berths, go shop for provisions for a long long time, fill up with unholy amounts of diesel and water. In short, we are getting ready to leave the Canary Islands, because it is finally time to sail on. But just as we are ready to go, the gods of sailing throw one more challenge our way...
