This is a 60-minute highlight of 2025 C&D Xiamen Marathon

Xiamen Marathon is an annual marathon race normally held on the first weekend of January in the coastal city of Xiamen in Fujian, China. It is accredited as World Athletics Elite Platinum Label Road Race in 2020. Xiamen Marathon has been awarded the 2019 AIMS Green Award, and become one of the most famous marathons in China.

As the World Athletics Platinum Label Race, this year’s Xiamen Marathon has nearly 35000 participants. Ethiopian athletes Ruti Aga and Dawit Wolde won the first place of the race and created new course records. Ruti Aga achieved a result of 2:18:46, improved the previous course record by more than a minute. That course record of 2:19:52 had been set by Aga’s compatriot Mare Dibaba in 2015, the year in which she became the world marathon champion in Beijing.

2025 Xiamen Marathon was kicked off on January 5. Xiamen's climate in January: The average temperature is 10°C ~ 17°C, with an average daytime temperature of 17°C and an average nighttime temperature of 10°C. The average hourly wind speed is basically unchanged, staying at about 12.0 kilometers per hour throughout the month, with an error of no more than 0.3 kilometers per hour. The average rainfall in the end of November is about 37 mm. The humidity is around 84%.

Xiamen is where the sea meets with the city. It is endowed with verdurous mountains, turquoise sea, blue sky, blooming flowers, and egrets, which complement each other and constitute perpetual natural beauty. There is Kulangsu, which is dotted by exotic East-meet-West villas and townhouses, and Xiamen University, reputed to be the “Strength of Southern China”. There are also pearly white beaches with gentle waves and a breathtaking view along the Huandao Road.
