Evergreen Get-Together: Celebrating Baby Simon’s First Birthday

On Monday, May 5th, 2025—a day that also marked my sister’s birthday back in Nigeria—we gathered at Punjabi Restaurant in Shanghai, China, to celebrate the first birthday of Master Simon, the beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Tosin Michael. Though my daughters couldn’t join due to online classes and school assignments, I was honored to represent our family.

The father, my dear namesake, was thrilled to see me, and together, we began decorating the hall with balloons and cheerful children’s ornaments. Soon, other guests arrived, and in no time, the venue was beautifully set. Everyone placed their food orders, with favorites including fried rice, fresh salad, succulent meats, curry porridge, mango juice, and chilled beers.

Before indulging in the delicious spread, we gathered for group photos with Baby Simon, his lovely wife, and friends from Serbia—his mother’s homeland. After the photoshoot, we enjoyed the meal while catching up, sharing stories about life in China and memories from Nigeria.

The celebration wrapped up around 9:30 PM, with heartfelt goodbyes and promises to reunite the following weekend for another gathering. We offered our heartfelt prayers for Baby Simon, wishing him a future filled with brightness, grace, and endless blessings. Cheers to many more wonderful years ahead for him and his loving parents!
