Deer Creek Road is one of the Santa Monica Mountains’ most dramatic short motorcycle rides — just 2.7 miles long with 40 curves, but packed with exposure, sweepers, and one of the most jaw-dropping ocean views in Southern California.
This road does have a center line, but don’t let that fool you. Much of the route clings to the mountainside with no guardrails and a hundreds-of-feet drop-off just inches from the pavement. It’s a ride that demands smooth inputs, focus, and respect.
The reward for making it through the twisties is unforgettable: an elevated, shockingly close view of the Pacific Ocean, with the coastline directly below your front wheel. After that viewpoint, Deer Creek Road plunges quickly down toward Pacific Coast Highway, ending the ride with a steep, tight descent.
